The Purbani, and particularly Abdul the owner, provides a top-notch service in Hedge End. The interior is very chic and stylish, and recently renovated too, while the food is wonderful â¬ perfectly cooked and very flavourful. My son has been attending HSGK karate classes for over two years now. His self-confidence and self-belief have grown remarkably in that time and much of that can be attributed to the discipline and skills that he has learnt in karate. Sensei Alan is brilliant with the kids, really inspiring them to work hard and get the most out of karate. Sensei Alan frequently organises extra training run by visiting karate experts and there are regular opportunities to participate in tournaments. Rating: 4.00We have a fair number of charity shops in Hedge End village and I wouldnâ¬"t call this one the best, but it is a good one. As usual they take in donations from people and have the normal selection of clothes and other items. I found that in comparison to some of the other charity shops, the prices were fairly steep, but that is not necessarily a bad thing seeing as it is in aid of a good cause and is still much cheaper than in your average high street shop. A combined post office and shop. The Post Office section seems a little tucked away at the back of the store and there isnâ¬"t much space for queuing, leaving people slightly cramped. Also there always seems to be at least one person standing about behind doing not very much with a desk left unopened, however it is useful to have this in the village. The shop section has useful stationary and other items that you can pick up at the same time and above the store there is a second hand book shop which has some great books on the history of the area as well as works of fiction.A combined post office and shop. When I first went into the shop it was busy with a lot of people chatting or browsing and a clearly friendly atmosphere. I found the prices very reasonable and the assistant lovely and it really makes a difference if the people in the store are approachable. If the staff are rude I for one do not want to come back to the shop. This place really deserves a no star rating, I find the most enjoyable thing about the Barn is trying to guess how many people will complain about their food in the time it takes me to drink two pints.
The Shamblehurst is surely the worst pub in the area, poor quality food stacked high and microwaved, a disengaged staff interested only in gossiping to their buddies topped with a slighty menacing undercurrent to the general ambience.
Against my better judgement I went in last Friday evening ( two pints - two complaints) the place was not particularly busy but still there was a queue at the bar, it took my friend over 15 minutes to get served.

Due to a non-working till and moving around of stock the pharmacy seemed to be in slight chaos when I went in, however it still managed to leave a good impression. The staff apologised cheerfully for the disruption and offered to help me find what I needed. I think once all the stock is sorted out the pharmacy would seem spacious and airy. Friendly, efficient - and they stock cotton reels!
Recently I had run out of white cotton but could find nowhere that stocked cotton reels. I thought I'd have to go into Southampton - until I walked into Peter Bryant dry cleaners. I've also had items dry-cleaned by them and can thoroughly recommend them - they're very friendly and efficient. And thank you for the cotton reel!Friendly, efficient - and they stock cotton reels!

I came across this farm shop a couple of years ago almost by accident and I am so glad that I did! It has fresh fruit and vegetables, a section for flowers and seasonal decorations- for example at Christmas there is a fantastic sort of grotto in one of the rooms selling everything you could possibly need for the festival. Also beautiful flower arrangements done at the back of the shop and homemade sauces/ jams etc near the front. It's important to support local small businesses and farm shops are a perfect example of this. Never quite sure about this store because one day I have brilliant customer service and the next day it can be awful. In general you have to wait for a long time at the enquiries desk for someone to help you and I have found the advice to be very vague at times, leading me to query whether the assistants know what they are talking about. Sometimes the staff have been downright rude, which is never acceptable. For people without much DIY knowledge it is sometimes necessary to ask a lot of questions. In Wickes I think that the level of response you get very much depends on the pot luck of which employee you choose to ask. I went in to buy some Builder's Sand and fortunately the assistant I asked was very helpful, showing me what I needed and the best sort to buy. I thought this was a great little shop. I waited absolutely no time at all to have the key cut and didn't even need to bring an unbroken copy, as is necessary in some places. The man who served me chatted as he cut the key and it was a very customer friendly atmosphere. There are basic hardware items for sale in the shop as well as the locksmith and key cutting services provided.I thought this was a great little shop. I am a technophobe and so seem to end up in this shop a lot asking questions to do with products I have either already purchased or am looking at buying. Everyone has been willing to help me in here and if they can't then have managed to find someone else who can. Even for the smallest questions I have had a good answer! I recently got a laptop from here and bought a bag and insurance to help if there were any problems- with this came a free backing up system just in case too. M and S is a great store for finding cheap yet pretty clothes but it seemed that I am not the only person to have discovered the delights of it and not infrequently I see women out and about in items I recognise from my own wardrobe. Of course there are other useful sections such as the food, furnishings and accessories upstairs and a money exchange too for getting notes in other currencies but it is the large clothing section, especially Per Una, which is most attractive for me. It is such a shame when you have mixed customer service from a place because invariably the bad experiences always stay with you in your memory. However trying to be fair I have had some excellent customer service in Homebase with people taking me to the product in the aisle and staying to answer questions, not just pointing in the general direction. I have never encountered people being rude just disinterested and not inclined to help, which would put me off only I think it is a useful DIY store and if by any chance they do not have a product in the Hedge End branch they will ring up and try to order it for you.It is such a shame when you have mixed customer service from a place because invariably the bad experiences always stay with you in your memory. I agree with TGR that the main byline for this takeaway has to be local and convenient, which it definitely is. Right on the high street I can't see that this has much in the way of competition. I have tasted better fish and chips but I have tasted worse too (much worse, if truth be told) and I don't find the portions paticularly expensive. They are, however, very big, which is good in the sense that you get a lot of food for your money but I am one of those people who never finishes the chips and so find it a bit of a trial to get through. I found a surprising shpo when I came in here. It was around the Halloween season when I first went in and I wasn't looking for a costume, so I was hard pressed to find the rest of the stock behind the witches hats and devils horns, but when I got there there was a lot to choose from. I found the fairy wings I was looking for but had to agonise over which colour, size and style would be best because there was so much choice! Tempting as the furry lilac ones were I found the bog standard Tinkerbell ones too, and it is the same with most of their stock; you can get the basic style or go for something a bit more out there.
